Below are words we will be reviewing in this unit.  The left column is a list of the phonics/spelling rules we are covering and practicing each week.  Your child should be able to read each of the words listed in the high frequency word column by the end of the month)  

Spelling  Rules:

Month 4:
Week 1 :   suffixes -ful and -ly
Examples: nicely, quickly, helpful, painful

Week 2:  -ow
Examples: cow, frown, clown, brow

Week3 :  -ou
Examples:  mouth, couch, count, found 

Week 4:   sounds of -oo
Examples: moon, pool, zoo, took

Week 5:   -oi and -oy
Examples: join, soil, enjoy, toy

Week 6:   -aw
Examples: hawk, lawn, draw, straw
